Laila Ali doesn’t like to fight little women. I remember reading that before she fought Christy Martin if it was not a misquote. But Laila said she went on and fought her because Christy kept calling her out. Fans don’t forget these things said although they might not remember word for word.
I don’t think Laila Ali will box Claressa Shields unless she changes her mind. I believe Laila Ali would overpower Claressa Shields.
I am a Laila Ali fan, and I know that Laila fighting against Claressa Shields would be Laila fighting someone weaker than she is. Laila Ali has more professional experience, having retired with an undefeated professional record of 24-0, but Claressa Shields has more recent professional fights and a decorated amateur background.
In her accomplished amateur career, Shields earned gold medals in the women’s middleweight division at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, becoming the first American boxer to secure consecutive Olympic medals. I think Claressa would be better served by focusing on other opponents with more wins and knockouts. If she redirected her energy to challenge a different fighter instead of Laila Ali, it could give her an opportunity to showcase her skills and gain valuable experience in the professional realm.
